On the final weekend of January, WWE will have the Royal Rumble pay-per-view take place on Sunday, the 29th. However, one day prior to that will see the NXT TakeOver: San Antonio live special air. This is part of the “Big Four” package of shows that WWE does for the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series.

TakeOver: San Antonio will be headlined by Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship. Roode won a fatal four-way match to earn this opportunity over Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, and Andrade Almas. Nakamura also recently regain the NXT Championship from Samoa Joe and will have his second title defense since the NXT Osaka event.

The NXT Women’s Championship will be defended by Asuka for the third consecutive TakeOver event. However, this match will see Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Nikki Cross all going for the belt in a fatal four-way. These three competitors are new to the title scene, as this will be their first opportunity at claiming gold. The Empress of Tomorrow also doesn’t have to be pinned to lose her belt, so can one of the other Superstars walk out victoriously?

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa will defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against the Authors of Pain in the third title match of NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. This will be Paul Ellering’s tag team’s first title bout since debuting last June, so can they complete Chapter 3?
