We knew that a FIFA game was already coming to the Nintendo Switch. But, it’s actually the newest game coming out this year, FIFA 18.

The Nintendo Switch is less than a month away and we couldn’t be more excited. The first-party powerhouse that is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be launching alongside it. However, third-party support is constantly growing and one of those games includes the FIFA franchise.

With the Switch, it seems like Nintendo and EA are working closely together again after they decided not to develop games for the Wii U. FIFA is the first of many games coming to the console.

According to Gamereactor, at a FIFA event in Paris, Peter Moore (EA CCO) said, “We are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch. It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year.”

In the past, the consoles to play these types of games on were the PlayStation or Xbox consoles. We aren’t sure whether the Switch version will be able to hold up to these other versions. However, we do know that EA is developing a custom built version for the Switch, which is great.

So, if you have any fear of the Switch version being inferior to the rest, you shouldn’t. “What you have will be a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver,” said Moore.

The FIFA is arguably the most popular sports video game franchise in the industry today. The fact that players will be able to play this on the go with the Switch is an absolute game-changer.

The Switch has many first-party content in store, but it’s the third-party games, like FIFA, that will draw the attention of other players around the world.
