George Lopez was under fire for roasting and tossing a heckler after making a joke that was, at the very least, racially insensitive. Now, the “comedian” is talking heat for his subsequent reaction to the outrage.

Complex Magazine has the scoop: it all started when George Lopez, amazingly, had a show in Phoenix, AZ. What’s amazing about this is that there are still people out there that are willing to pay good money to see George Lopez.

In any event, Lopez’s “joke” went as follows: “There’s still two rules in the f***ing Latino family. Don’t marry somebody black, and don’t park in front of our house.”

Whoever would have thought that this joke would have fallen flat with the audience? (insert eye-rolling emoji here)

One audience member, a black woman, took exception to this joke and flipped George Lopez the middle finger. That caused the “funnyman” to lose his cool completely: forgetting that heckling is a natural part of live comedy — even George Carlin was heckled, and he was actually funny and intelligent — he proceeded to curse her out before calling for security to have her escorted out.

And then, as if to add insult to injury, George Lopez proceeded to take to his Twitter to further remain unapologetic (with adult language) about his See You Next Tuesday-like behavior.

The reactions on social media, interestingly enough, were not based on how offensive the joke was. Even though the joke wasn’t funny, and certainly in bad taste, people didn’t seem to have a problem with the joke overall. The issue, it seems, has to do with how George Lopez brutally heckled a woman of color for speaking her mind.

“George Lopez is canceled. it’s not even the joke that pisses me off. It’s the way he treated the lady in the crowd,” wrote one fan.
