The New York Jets head into the offseason with a plethora of questions on their roster. What are their biggest needs?

The 2015 Jets were one game, and essentially one throw away from making the playoffs. The 2016 Jets were not in the same stratosphere as a playoff-caliber team. The breakdown was a bit surprising, especially considering it was a jump from year one of Todd Bowles to year two. However, given the drop, it now makes year three of the Bowles tenure a make-or-break situation in the swamps of the Meadowlands. What are the positions that he and his staff need to address the most this offseason?

5. Tight End

No team got less out of their tight end than the New York Jets. Austin Seferian-Jenkins was signed on last season and he brought next to nothing. He graded out as a below-average blocker and caught 10 passes all season. He is signed on for 2017, but has one more year on his deal, and could be easily cut if need be. Aside from him, Braedon Bowman is the only tight end currently signed.

The Jets do have a bevy of pass catchers on the team at the wide receiver position. Therefore, their biggest need out of the tight end position should be an extra blocker. With Seferian-Jenkins bringing nothing to the table as a blocker, that need now becomes magnified.

This appears to be a good draft to need a tight end, however. While they should not take one in the first round, and likely should not in the second either, there should be some value in the middle rounds to add a name, especially if a block-first tight end is what they are looking for. Anthony Fasano and Logan Paulsen are some other names that stand out as free agents who could add in the blocking game that would be cheap options. They could also look for a more well-rounded player such as Jack Doyle or Jared Cook if one of the two goes unsigned by their current team.
