Before the Stadium Series, real penguins took the ice and stole the show.

The Stadium Series matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers is expected to be an entertaining one. However, its most unforgettable moment happened before the opening faceoff.

The only thing better than the Pittsburgh Penguins taking the ice? How about real penguins prancing around?

Huge points for cuteness and adorableness. Such creativity is rarely seen at outdoor games. Most of them are quite bland and feature mediocre entertainment. Kudos to Pittsburgh for embracing something unique and stealing the show. And yes, that is their mascot Iceberg chilling with them. It’s almost creepy, but not quite. So therefore, it’s adorable.

It appears the live penguins must have gotten Sidney Crosby and their namesake pumped up. Pittsburgh holds a 2-1 lead in the game in the second period. Captain Crosby scored in the first period while Nick Bonino scored in the second. Rookie forward Jake Guentzel is stealing the show so far, as the first year forward has two assists.

Meanwhile, the Flyers continue to struggle. They haven’t been scoring much lately. However, the Flyers did a goal from Jakub Voracek in the second period. Compounding their issue is their defense hasn’t been as strong as it was last season.

Most notably, their goaltending, which carried them at times last season, has been unimpressive this season. Neither Steve Mason nor Michal Neuvirth have been as strong as they were in 2015-16. They look like a team that needs to be shaken up. Luckily, the Flyers have a plethora of young defensemen coming up soon, so this could be just what the doctor ordered. So far, the penguins and Iceberg have shown more energy than them in the game.
