Chicago Bulls fans have one more disappointment to add to the season.

Dwyane Wade, the starting shooting guard for the Chicago Bulls, will be out for the rest of the season. Per Sean Highkin of The Athletic Chicago, Wade underwent an MRI to see whether the injury was serious and it is. He has a small fracture in his elbow and the Bulls will shut him down for the remainder of the season.

This season has definitely been a dud for the Bulls. They started with such high aspirations after signing Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade to contracts in the offseason. And with the emergence of the young superstar, Jimmy Butler, the Bulls thought they were set to make a deep playoff run. But, the experiment has been a complete and utter failure for everyone watching the season unfold.

The silver lining for Bulls fans, if there is one, is that they can hopefully lose the rest of their games to get a better pick. With the loss of their big free agent target, they may need to consider shutting down Butler for the rest of the season. The Phoenix Suns just shut down Eric Bledsoe for the season and the Bulls may need to follow suit with Butler.

Next: Dwyane Wade delivers a great block

The Bulls currently sit at 10th in the Eastern Conference and will not be attending the playoffs this year (unless a miracle happens). The Bulls can start to look forward to next season and try to think about how they will build around Butler for the future. With a young coach in Fred Hoiberg, the Bulls could make some moves in the offseason to achieve their goal of winning another championship. Whether that dictates building around their young star, Butler, or possibly trading away Butler and commencing a total rebuild, the Bulls need to figure out what they’re doing quickly.
