West Brom 3-1 Arsenal: Highlights and recap
West Brom beat Arsenal 3-1 at The Hawthorns on Saturday, March 18. Here are all the highlights from the match.
Tony Pulis has always been something of a menace for Arsenal, and so it proved again on Saturday, as Pulis’ West Brom side beat the Gunners 3-1 at The Hawthorns.
Craig Dawson opened the scoring for the Baggies after only 12 minutes, heading in a terrific Nacer Chadli corner. Arsenal hit back quickly, though, with Chadli again playing a big role. He failed to track Alexis Sanchez into the 18-yard box, and had to watch as the Chilean finished into the roof of West Brom’s net.
This match was surprisingly open given West Brom’s modus operandi against the league’s top sides (and everyone else, for that matter), and, even more surprisingly, the home side probably created the better of the chances.
Hal Robson-Kanu gave West Brom the lead in the 55th minute, poking in after David Ospina, on as a substitute for the injured Petr Cech, couldn’t hold onto a Chadli pass. This time there was no Arsenal response.
Dawson put the game to bed in the 75th minute with his second goal of the match, again heading in unmarked from a corner.
