Mick Foley could have just taken the easy way out and taken a leave of absence at the behest of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, but he chose a different route

Following the conclusion of WWE RAW one week ago where Mick Foley hit Triple H with Mr. Socko and the Mandible Claw, there were obviously going to be repercussions for the general manager. So it stood to reason that Foley starting off Monday night’s episode in Brooklyn, NY in the ring was the start of that. And indeed, he pulled out index cards and began reading a statement.

He talked about how his actions were unacceptable and things of that nature. Then he announced that he would be taking a leave of absence until after WrestleMania 33—but then Foley seemed to snap. The RAW GM looked at the cards, proclaimed he was “Mick Freakin’ Foley” and wasn’t going to be forced to read a prepared statement by Haitch and Stephanie.

Of course, this brought the RAW commissioner, Steph, down to the ring and she was immediately condescending towards Foley. She lambasted him for not being able to do something simple and said that now she had to do it for him. That’s when she said the most famous two words in the McMahon family language, “You’re Fired:”

Sami Zayn came out in defense of one of his mentors, standing up to Stephanie McMahon. However, all he got was a beating at the hands of Samoa Joe.

After that match, Foley was making the rounds backstage, saying goodbye to several heartbroken superstars upset about his firing. But then he came face-to-face with Triple H, who sarcastically mimicked Foley’s “Have a nice day” before walking away:

This certainly doesn’t feel like something final, but then again you never know when it comes to WWE. With WrestleMania 33 only 13 days away, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see something develop either between now and then or in Orlando.
