LaVar Ball and Stephen A. Smith will be going at it for round two on First Take on Monday March 27.

Stephen A. Smith and LaVar Ball are two polarizing figures. The former likes to yell as loud as he can, trying to make irrelevant things relevant. Meanwhile, the latter has become a popular figure during the 2016-17 NCAA Basketball season. He’s best known for being his son Lonzo Ball’s biggest cheerleader, but LaVar also enjoys yelling. The most famous dad in college basketball will be joining ESPN’s First Take on Monday, March 27.

While this is very controversial, it’s going to get ratings. People will tune in to witness the debauchery and chaos even if they hate Ball. At the end of the day, ESPN cares about ratings, which is what matters.

However, this could get awkward because Smith and Ball embarrassed themselves on First Take earlier in March. This stems from LaVar claiming he could beat Michael Jordan one-on-one.

First Take has been struggling a little bit since losing Skip Bayless. However, it’s still beating FS1’s Undisputed in ratings. Perhaps its debate format is starting to get old to its viewers. Max Kellerman, best known for his work on Around The Horn, is replacing Bayless, but hasn’t been successful on the show yet. This reeks of desperation from ESPN, as they need something to increase their ratings.

Lonzo will be joining his father on the show, which should make things even more heated. Ball is very defensive of his son, so if Smith says anything slightly insulting to his son, expect LaVar to defend his son. For better or for worse, First Take should be entertaining on Monday. ESPN is taking a bold risk, but a necessary one.
