Dak Prescott

Quarterback, Dallas Cowboys

After the greatest rookie season in NFL quarterback history, Dallas Cowboys starter Dak Prescott faces immense pressure heading into his second year as the biggest star in Texas. He usurped often-injured Tony atop the Cowboys’ quarterbacking depth chart. In year one, Dallas had the best record in the NFC.

Prescott successfully proved his doubters wrong as a former mid-fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State. He was accurate and calm under duress. Prescott didn’t have many bad games as a rookie, just a few uninspiring quarters here and there. His first year in Dallas could not have been better.

That being said, Dallas has an awful schedule and teams now have tape on the second-year signal caller from Shreveport. He thrive playing primarily underneath ball last fall, completing 67.8 percent of his passes for 3,667 yards, 23 touchdowns and only four interceptions. However, we have to expect to some degree a sophomore slump from Prescott.

Opposing teams will force him to beat them on throws down the field. That kind of coverage will diminish his completion percentage and the interceptions will go up. Should Prescott be able to pivot, we could be looking at a true superstar in Dallas.

Prescott can quarterback a Cowboys team to a Super Bowl. He probably will at some point in his NFL career, maybe even 2017? For that to happen, he will have to be a primary reason Dallas wins games and not a complementary one. Dallas will go as far as he takes them. Don’t be shocked if it gets slightly worse before it gets better for Prescott as the Cowboys quarterback.
