The San Jose Sharks face the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of their NHL playoff series at the SAP Center on Sunday, April 16.

After taking the first game of the series, the San Jose Sharks were shut out by the Edmonton Oilers. The loss was embarrassing for the Sharks, who gave up short-handed goals to Zack Kassian and Connor McDavid. Oilers goalie Cam Talbot stopped all 16 shots he faced at the other end to pick up the easy shutout.

The Sharks will hope that home ice turns around their fortunes. San Jose went 26-11-4 at the SAP Center in the regular season and after a dreadful game, the Sharks will be happy to be heading home. If San Jose is going to win Game 3 they need to get more shots on goal. In the first game, the Sharks took 44 shots, almost three times more than they did in Game 2.

The Oilers have out hit the Sharks 91 to 55 throughout the first two games in the series. In game 2, Kassian delivered a huge hit to Logan Couture. If Edmonton continues to be the more physical team they should be favored to win the series.

The NHL playoff game between the Oilers and Sharks will be broadcast on NBCSN and Sportsnet in Canada. Live streaming is available on NBC Sports, and Sportsnet which you can access with your cable or satellite, either online or through their app.

After missing the first two games of the series, San Jose could get back center Joe Thornton. Thornton suffered a lower body injury in the Sharks game against the Vancouver Canucks on April 2, and has missed San Jose’s past five games.
