Seattle Seahawks’ star defensive back Richard Sherman will reportedly not attend the teams workouts this month, may potentially attend their May workouts.

Amid all of the trade rumors that have surrounded Sherman and the Seahawks in recent weeks, the first-team All-Pro has announced that he will not attend the teams workouts this month per NFL.com.

Sherman’s name has been swirling in trade rumors this month since Seattle’s general manager John Schneider confirmed reports that the team was listening to offers for him. It would take a significant offer to pry Sherman away from the Seahawks, but it is not out of the question that it could potentially happen. With the NFL draft a little under two weeks away, teams could continue to engage in trade discussions with Seattle and add fuel to the fire of these rumors.

Sherman’s career stats certainly tell the tale of an elite defensive back, as he has never missed a game in his career since he entered the league in 2011, and he’s compiled 30 interceptions over that time. Absolutely remarkable numbers for any defensive player, especially one who was somehow selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft.

With Sherman set to become a free agent in 2019, the Seahawks may want to get some good value for him if they fear he will depart the team and take his talents else where. It has been speculated that an offer for him would have to include pretty high draft choices, and potentially a quality player or two.

It’s hard to envision Seattle getting back the same type of value and leadership Sherman currently brings to the team. The legion of boom may be losing one of their key cogs, and a team might be starting their own with Sherman leading the way.
