How did the New York Jets fare in the 2017 NFL Draft?

The 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone and now it is time for review. Of course, it will be easier to look back in a few years and really find out how these players fit and transitioned to their new roles. But as a whole, you can understand team philosophies and processes that deserve to be examined upon first glance. With that being said, here is the New York Jets’ final grade.

Jamal Adams

Safety, LSU

The Jets needed a tone-setter and they got one. They needed a leader and they got one. Todd Bowles loves defense and he got a player who clearly loves tackling and playing on that side of the ball. Jamal Adams is the safest player in the entire draft. As far as his position, he has played everywhere. He can play centerfield, in the box, in the slot and a mixture of them all.

He is a strong form tackler, has above average speed and is a skilled overall athlete. However, his intangibles are what has coaches raving. He is a leader in the locker room, a guy who shows up and comes to work and does not take plays off. The Jets are in the midst of a rebuild and there is no better player to start it off with than Jamal Adams.
