Post positions have been drawn for the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby and there’s a new favorite at Churchill Downs this Saturday.

With the 2017 Kentucky Derby just a few days away, the all-important matter of where each of the 20 horses, the biggest field of the Triple Crown races, will line up is now known and there’s a new favorite for the “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” this Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs.

Coming into the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby, Always Dreaming was seen as the favorite in the 1 1/4-mile race, and is still a contender at 5-1 odds, but the new favorite is Classic Empire. The Arkansas Derby winner, who is trained by Mark Casse and will be ridden by 33-year-old Julien Leparoux, will run from the 14th position and is currently listed at 4-1. Joining Always Dreaming at 5-1 is McCraken, who drew the No. 15 position, the same spot from which American Pharoah started his Triple Crown run. Right behind them at 6-1 sits Irish War Cry, who had the unfortunate luck of drawing the No. 17 position, a spot that has never produced a Kentucky Derby winner. These are the only four horses that drew single-digit odds. The 2017 Kentucky Derby is scheduled to start at 6:34 p.m. ET on NBC.
