What is a trifecta while gambling on horse racing? The 2017 Kentucky Derby will see plenty of such bets.

The Kentucky Derby is full of traditions and they all hold a special place in the history of Churchill Downs. One of the biggest traditions is the gambling. A lot of money gets wagered on the event and everyone wants to bet on the winner.

It’s one of those events where it feels almost necessary to place a bet. The great thing about horse racing is the different types of betting that can occur. There are several types of bets that will be placed on the 143rd annual Kentucky Derby.

One of those bets is a trifecta. For those that are unaware what a trifecta is and how it is used in gambling on horse racing, the concept is quite simple. It is betting on the horses that will finish in the first three spots in order.

Now, that’s certainly a lot more difficult than simply betting on the winner for sure. However, a trifecta has the potential to pay out a ton of money simply because of the odds of correctly gambling on the right three horses.

It’s more of a bet for the experienced gamblers, but it’s a classic through and through. After the event is over, the NBC broadcast will break the prize money down and how much each type of bet ended up paying out. For those that feel inclined to take the risk and make the bet, this could be one of the hardest years to be successful. The field is as open as ever without the presence of a heavy favorite.
