Eagles restructure Jason Peters’ contract

The Philadelphia Eagles officially restructured their offensive tackle Jason Peters’ contract Wednesday morning.
One day after Pro Bowler Jason Peters expressed his desire for a new deal, the Eagles met his demands. Already inked to a two-year deal, the Eagles added one more year to it to ensure that Peters will retire with the team.
Eagles now have three years with OT Jason Peters for $32.5 million, including $15.5 million gtd, per source.

Peters has been in the NFL for 12 seasons, playing for Philadelphia for the last seven seasons. He has been one of the most consistent and durable left tackles in the game during his tenure, including making nine Pro Bowls, and being named a First-Team All-Pro three times. I’m sure Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is definitely happy the deal got done.
The Eagles seem to be well on their way of rivaling the Dallas Cowboys and potentially winning the NFC East this upcoming season. They made waves by signing star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, and added touchdown machine from a year ago LeGarrette Blount at running back.

They addressed two major needs that their offense lacked last season, and it will be interesting to see if they can put it all together under second-year head coach Doug Pederson. Philadelphia had the eighth best offensive line last season, per PFF, and Peters graded out as their top overall lineman.
As we’ve come to find out in football, an offense can only go as far as their offensive line allows them to go, and the Eagles made sure their most important lineman is on board. Philadelphia will kick off their first two games this upcoming season on the road against the Washington Redskins, and the Kansas City Chiefs. It will be interesting to see how they incorporate their new weapons into their offense, and the progress that Wentz is expected to make.
