John McEnroe had some choice words for the New York Knicks organization.

As reported by ESPN, John McEnroe, a lifelong New York Knicks fan, had this to say about the organization: “it’s like a total train wreck.”

When you’re right, you’re right, Johnny Mac. From the Charles Oakley incident last year, to Phil Jackson’s public spats with Carmelo Anthony, to the recent Kristaps Porzingis trade rumors, the team is in a state of disaster. This team is, has been and will continue to be just that. As long as long time owner James Dolan is at the helm, it’s hard to see the situation resolving itself.

The Knicks have had a rough go of things the past few years and the arrival of Phil Jackson was supposed to calm the seas. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out that way. The Porzingis trade drama is just the latest in a long line of problems.

The other big question regarding the future centers on Anthony, who should probably do whatever he can to get away from New York. It’s clear he’s not welcomed by the organization anymore and management isn’t going to put the right pieces around him in order to win. He should take the few years he has left in his prime and go somewhere he can make a deep playoff run.

Porzingis must be thrilled he will still have his best years ahead of him once his rookie contract is up. It’s been a long time since the Knicks have had a young player of his caliber, but there’s little to suggest the organization can get its act together before his contract runs out in two years. Hopefully they’ll actually have a realistic chance to re-sign him.
