Russell Westbrook captured his first MVP award at the 2017 NBA Awards on Monday night, and the Twitter community reacted quickly.

Russell Westbrook has finally won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award. After the departure of Kevin Durant last summer, Westbrook put Oklahoma City on his shoulders and carried them as far as he could. He averaged a triple-double and persevered for every single win.

Although the season may have not ended the way he wanted, Westbrook is recognized for his individual play and contributions. His fierce competitiveness and relentless pursuit of points, rebounds and assists is amazing to watch on a nightly basis. Not taking a possession or game off is a testament to Westbrook’s character.

Here are some quick reactions from Twitter on Westbrook winning the MVP.

Finally, the tweet that we were all waiting for: Kevin Durant’s reactions to Russell Westbrook winning the MVP.

Obviously, we were waiting on someone to include Brodie in their tweet congratulating Russell Westbrook on the MVP.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Twitter account made a play on words, using 0 for O because that’s the number Westbrook wears. (Shots fired at Durant? Maybe.)

ESPN’s Darren Rovell putting in perspective how late the NBA Awards are.

The Ringer’s Shea Serrano always has good things to say.

Ben Golliver sums up everything Westbrook accomplished this year — good or bad.

Taylor Price wins the “Real MVP” shoutout moment.

Our very own Jack Jorgenson on the “Brodie!” shoutout — taking a break from WWE, probably.

Congratulations to Russell Westbrook! The 2016-17 NBA Most Valuable Player goes to Oklahoma City’s main guy. He carried them through their ups and downs and was the sole reason that the Thunder stayed relevant in a difficult Western Conference.

James Harden and Kawhi Leonard continue to pursue their first-ever MVP award, but for today, it’s Westbrook’s world and we’re just living in it.
