Michael Vick says Colin Kaepernick’s performance is keeping him off NFL team

Many think Colin Kaepernick’s racial stances are keeping him off of an NFL roster, but Michael Vick says there’s a different reason.

Michael Vick knows a thing or two about an incident off of the field affecting your ability to find work on it, so it makes sense that he would chime in on the Colin Kaepernick situation. However, he thinks there’s a different reason for why the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is unemployed.

In an appearance on FS1’s The Herd  Monday, Vick said that it isn’t the drama surrounding Kaepernick off the field that has been holding him back this offseason from finding a new team, like many think has been the case.

“It has nothing to do with him being blackballed,” Vick said. “The gesture that he made last year when he took the stand to do what he did, listen, we all appreciated it, we respected it, and it was a good thing. I really think the stand that he took has nothing to do with him not having a job playing in the National Football League right now.”

Vick added that it hasn’t been the same Kaepernick on the field that led the 49ers to the Super Bowl a few seasons ago, and that’s the true reason as to why he hasn’t found work with any NFL teams.

“Colin didn’t have the best two years his last two seasons,” Vick said. “It wasn’t as productive as what we’ve seen him do. And maybe it was due to coaching changes and musical chairs in the positions around him and players, but I think in terms of him getting back on the field, it’s going to have to be a team that suits his skill set and what he does well.”

With just a few weeks left until NFL training camp starts, Kaepernick is still unemployed, but injuries can quickly change that situation. It’ll just be interesting to see if Kaepernick gets any offers from teams if they do have players go down.
