BIG3 founder Ice Cube is holding true to foundation of the league, says former NBA players only.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, BIG3 founder and commissioner Ice Cube shut down the idea of former NFL superstar Terrell Owens joining the league. Cube’s comments come as a result of Owens’ plea to join the BIG3. But the founder remains true to his values, reaffirming that the league is for ex-NBA players only.

Recently, Owens commented on his love for basketball with USA TODAY’s Josh Peter. During the interview, Owens stated that despite a successful NFL career, he would choose basketball if given the option again. T.O. played basketball throughout high school and even into college before giving the pigskin his undivided attention. The former receiver spent three of his years at Chattanooga playing college hoops. However, he averaged just 1.5 points per game in his 38 collegiate games.

Despite his mediocre college stat line, in Owens’ TMZ video, he stated that “the guys know that I can hoop.” Something about this whole situation screams publicity stunt, as do the rumors of a potential T.O. NFL return. After all, Owens has been known to partake in a fair share of foolish shenanigans. If not a stunt, the BIG3 plea is Owens trying to cope with the fact that his career in professional sports is over.

Owens made the comments to USA TODAY Sports while celebrating inside of the Golden State Warriors’ locker room following their NBA Finals win. Owens, who never won a Super Bowl, may have just been caught up in the moment at the time when making comments about his career choice. However, only T.O. truly knows the answer to that question. But, everybody knows one thing for sure: T.O. won’t be playing in the BIG3 league anytime soon.
