It’s been four months since the last WWE Superstar Shake-Up, which means it’s time to do it again, apparently.

WWE could be looking to shake things up again following SummerSlam.

According to reports by PWInsider and Wrestling Observer, WWE will hold another Superstar Shake-Up after The Biggest Party of the Summer. Given that SummerSlam is roughly a year after last year’s draft, a Superstar Shake-Up makes sense. However, the last Shake-Up was only four months ago, so it seems a bit too early for another one.

Should WWE go this route again, it would be nice if they actually explained how the Shake-Up works. Following WrestleMania and the Shake-Up announcement, guys and gals just appeared on different shows and the announcers freaked out. There was no explanation of how they ended up on the show. Were they traded between general managers Daniel Bryan and Kurt Angle? Were their names randomly pulled out of a hat? Did they just show up because they were tired of being on the other brand? No one really knows.

The first Superstar Shake-Up worked for some and had no impact on others.

Charlotte, Alexa Bliss and New Day got fresh starts on their new brands after running out of things to do on their original shows. Dean Ambrose and Miz picked up where they left off, jumping right back into a feud with each other on RAW. And Jinder Mahal went from drowning on RAW to being the current WWE champion on SmackDown Live.

A post-SummerSlam Shake-Up could see the company finally go somewhere with the whole “Free Agent” John Cena gimmick. He was announced as a free agent upon his July 4 return, but hasn’t appeared on RAW or been courted by RAW GM Kurt Angle. Maybe now that Angle is no longer dealing with personal matters, he can attempt to sign the biggest star on the roster.

If nothing else, the Shake-Up will drum up a little interest as football season returns.
