Talk of Jimbo Fisher potentially leaving for Texas A&M after this season continues to pop up as the season comes to a close.

The Texas A&M Aggies have yet to part ways with head football coach Kevin Sumlin, although the belief among many is they will once the season comes to a close in a few weeks. After another disappointing season, for the most part, the marriage between Sumlin and Texas A&M will almost certainly be coming to an end, which of course means the Aggies administration will be on the lookout for a new man to head up the football program.

As we gear up for a Texas A&M coaching search coming up, one name that has popped up here and there is that of current Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher. And on Wednesday, a new report from USA TODAY revealed Texas A&M is indeed ready to make a run at the Seminoles’ head coach, who won a national championship with Florida State in 2013.

Fisher has been named for positions in the past, particularly when the LSU job was open. However, he decided to stay in Tallahassee the past few seasons as opposed to making a move to the SEC. Some may believe it should be the same in regards to the Aggies’ job, but Fisher does have ties to current athletic director Scott Woodward. There’s no telling how much that would influence a potential decision, but it is something worth noting here.

Texas A&M, again, still has to officially part ways with Sumlin, which they haven’t done just yet. But, with that move seemingly inevitable at this point, now we can all apparently gear up for Texas A&M of the SEC West to make a run at one of the more prominent coaches in the ACC who may be looking for a new start after the way 2017 has gone.
