A change at quarterback may be just what the doctor ordered for Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy had an up-and-down rookie season in 2020, but most of that was because of the poor play of quarterback Drew Lock. Jeudy saw the most uncatchable targets in the league last season (26), according to ProFootballFocus. That comes down to Lock not being able to deliver him the ball when he’s open.

Now that Lock has been benched in favor of veteran Teddy Bridgewater, Jeudy’s odds to lead all second-year receivers in yardage have seen a jump from +600 to +500 at WynnBET, which puts him behind only Justin Jefferson on the odds list.
Bridgewater outperformed Lock in the preseason, and the Broncos clearly like the floor that Bridgewater provides the team with as a passer. He’s not going to strictly win games with his arm, but he also won't lose them any by turning the ball over constantly.

Will that be enough to get the Broncos into the playoffs? The oddsmakers at WynnBET aren’t so sure. Denver has been favored to miss the playoffs all offseason, but it’s possible that Vic Fangio’s decision to start Bridgewater could change the Broncos’ trajectory if he succeeds early in the 2021 campaign.
Jeudy has a lot of competition for targets in Denver between Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant, Tim Patrick, and KJ Hamler, but the former first-round pick seems poised to break out with the more accurate Bridgewater under center.
Jeudy still racked up 856 receiving yards on 52 catches in 2020, and that came with him reeling in just 46 percent of his targets. After seeing 113 targets as a rookie, Jeudy is a good bet to come near that number again in Year 2, but hopefully this time he will have more passes that he can turn in electrifying plays like he showed this preseason.

Hopefully that clip is foreshadowing more to come for Broncos fans this season.
