Alicia Keys is off to one heck of a start in 2013. Not only with the star recording artist perform the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVII, but the singer is apparently very savvy when it comes to technology and she has taken an important position with Canadian based phone company Blackberry.

Blackberry confirmed on Wednesday that Keys has been named the company’s global creative director.

“She believes in the product and technology,” BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said in a statement. “We are excited she will be bringing to us her enormous capabilities, as well as a vast network of relationships in the entertainment, social media and business communities, to help shape our brand and grow our business.”

Keys joined Heins at an event in New York to discuss her new role with the smartphone company.

“I want to bridge the gap between the work phone and the play phone,” Key said. “As global creative director, my goal is to inspire creativity with this platform, and I’m so excited to jump right in.”

Keys stated that she will be working closely with app developers, designers and content creators to create original content for the Blackberry 10 platform. She is also hoping to see more athletes and entertainers join in on creating for the company.

We will get a good look at Keys doing what she does best on Sunday when she performs to start the Super Bowl, but it looks like we will be seeing and hearing a lot more from her as she works in the world of technology.
