Tim Tebow is not a happy camper right now. His glory days at the University of Florida seem like ancient history and his status as a college football God is as old as the relics of Zeus. After finding lucky success with the Denver Broncos, Tebow spent all of last season as the unwanted child of the New York Jets and the mixed signals they gave him didn’t help matters.

The Jets cut Tebow earlier this week, and the ex-Jets punt protector is a free agent for the first time in his career. Tebow cleared waivers meaning he can sign anywhere he wants to for the 2013 season. But the kicker about passing through waivers unclaimed is that it’s a sign nobody wants you, and that has Tebow understandably bummed out.

The Denver Post found and posted a really sad picture of Tebow on their Facebook page that makes even that painting of the crying clown look like a happy self portrait.

As you can see in the photo, Tebow is either thinking really hard, praying or thinking really hard about praying for a break in the NFL. Honestly, at this point it’s really hard to not feel a little bit bad for Tebow. At the end of the day, he didn’t do anyone wrong and a large amount of the animosity towards him is actually directed at his cult that is under a hypnotic notion that Tebow in his current form is anything other than a punt protector.

I’ve long said that Tebow can be successful in the NFL if he adapts. There are two ways Tebow can adapt: he can either change positions or work harder and adapt his workouts to enhance his skills which are still clearly raw.

To his credit, the punt protector reportedly lost a ton of weight in the offseason and is in the best condition of his life. Trust me, I want Tebow to succeed, but like teaching that gorilla how to use sign language in place of actually speaking, we have to arrive at a point where we all understand that Tim Tebow may succeed in the NFL but he might not be the superstar quarterback some still hope he can be.
