NBA Trade Rumors — While the Los Angeles Clippers are trying to swing a deal with the Boston Celtics, another rumor is floating around. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Clippers will consider offering Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe as a package deal for Dwight Howard as soon as the Los Angeles Lakers center becomes a free agent.

Just earlier on Saturday this deal seemed unlikely, as most of the Clippers’ front office consider Griffin untouchable. Another factor that made it unlikely was the fact there were reports that the Lakers would not be interested in facilitating a sign-and-trade with anyone — they would either re-sign Howard or cut their losses and save money.

Including Bledsoe in this trade would be very important, which is why the Clippers are trying to hold onto him and not send him to Boston before the beginning of free agency.

The Lakers might not be interested in sign-and-trades involving Howard, but at the same time, if the Clippers take the first step and offer a young and cheap point guard and an ultra athletic All-Star the Lakers would probably think twice. While saving money and preserving cap space would be a great idea, adding Griffin and Bledsoe would undoubtedly make the Lakers a better team.
