Let’s be real here, I was not prepared for this scenario, and I feel as though I was pretty well prepared. I don’t know a ton about Livio Jean-Charles, other than he was fantastic at the Nike Hoop Summit, and then shut it down and didn’t work out for anyone. He also has a nice wingspan and good length, and the Spurs obviously keyed on that.

It’s hard to argue too much with what R.C. Buford and Company are up too…they’re always pretty much the best. There are a lot of guys on the board that should be able to help right away, but at guaranteed money it becomes a little shaky. Therefore, I like the pick of Jean-Charles, who’s a little bit of a wild card, but if the Spurs’ track record says anything…he should be pretty good.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are ferociously trading down in the first round, immediately after buying the #26 pick from the Timberwolves for cash and a future second round pick. I, for one, love the second round. Value picks abound here, and my hunch is that many of the more savvy teams are trying pretty hard to move out of the late first round and into the early second round.
