Christmas Day has become the most highlighted spectacle of the regular season for the NBA, and this season should be no exception. As the league prepares for an “unveiling” of its national TV schedule for the campaign, we may have our first leak, and it involves the “big day”.

The Orange County Register’s Dan Wolke is reporting that the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers will be facing off on Christmas Day. He is quick to point out that this is simply a “sourced” report at this junction, but with no reason to mislead on this one in addition to the raising profile of both franchises, it makes perfect sense.

Golden State climbed into the hearts of many fans this postseason when their leader, Stephen Curry, went absolutely insane during an unlikely playoff run. In the offseason, they seemed to have upgraded their roster even more, as they were able to acquire the services of uber-stopper Andre Iguodala in exchange for virtually nothing in terms of on-court value.

On the Clippers side, they still feature the fantastic duo of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, but this season, they are poised to bring a deep roster to the table. Los Angeles was able to acquire Jared Dudley and JJ Redick to fix a growing wing issue, and they were able to bring in a backup point guard (Darren Collison) at an incredibly cheap rate as insurance for the departed Eric Bledsoe.

This may not be the most high-profile match-up of the day, but it could certainly be the most entertaining. I, for one, can’t wait to see Stephen Curry and Chris Paul face off on the game’s biggest stage.
