After the team drafted Michigan State’s Le’Veon Bell, Dwyer was believed to be on the chopping block, but he still believes he has a chance to challenge Bell for the starting role.

Even with Dwyer’s dedication to winning the starting role, Bell is younger, much more talented, and already looking like he’s ready to assume the starting role:

"If Le’Veon Bell keeps progressing like this, no way Tomlin will be able to keep him out of the starting lineup. He’s the real deal — Mark Kaboly (@MarkKaboly_Trib) July 31, 2013"

"Tomlin is typically terse when asked about rookies, but he’s starting to answer when asked about Le’Veon. Bell is making an impression. — Bob Labriola (@BobLabriola) August 3, 2013"

The Steelers have given Bell as many reps as he could handle as they look to evaluate his skill set. The second-round pick has taken the opportunity and run with it, and believes he’s in the prefect situation to succeed as a Steeler:

"You got to be patient. That’s what coach [Kirby] Wilson is always teaching me. It’s something as a runner I’ve always been blessed with. I’m a patient-type of runner. A lot of guys look at me and think I’m a big, physical guy, but I’m more patient than anything. That what makes me successful up to this point."
