Detroit Lions WR Patrick Edwards to start in place of Calvin Johnson
By Jason Marcum
Edwards proved himself as an undrafted rookie out of Houston last season, as he earned a spot on the practice squad, and in his second year with the offense, Edwards is more confident about not only making the 53-man roster, but making an impact on gameday during the regular season.
The 2011 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year was one of the most dynamic receivers in college football, and finished his Houston career with 4,471 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns.
His senior campaign in 2011 saw him rank first in the nation with 20 touchdown receptions, second with 1,752 receiving yards, sixth with 19.7 yards per catch and 15th with 89 receptions.
But that was college, and this is the NFL, and how well Edwards plays tonight could go a long way in helping him realize his dreams of playing in the NFL.
