Concussions are apart of sports but when it comes to certain positions, players tend to experience concussion like symptoms more than others.

In professional baseball those who play the catcher position are always at risk of suffering a concussion. On the baseball field they usually take the most damage. Either taking foul tips off of their mask or getting hit in the head with a baseball bat if a player follows through too much.

Most of the damage comes from collisions that occur at home plate when they attempt to make an out. If you want to be a catcher you need to be tough and willing to endure punishment on a day to day basis.

Now the Minnesota Twins announced that they won’t use Ryan Doumit behind the plate anymore for the remainder of the season. Doumit hasn’t sat behind the plate ever since coming off of the disabled list for a concussion back on August 16th.

"“At this point, it is not worth getting back there and taking another one and spend a whole offseason trying to recover. It’s the safe route.” Doumit told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune."

Right now the catcher position is pretty slim considering Joe Mauer is also dealing with some concussion issues himself. We could see some position changes for both Doumit and Mauer if the Twins want their careers to continue on, especially in Minnesota.
