The Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals are both off to a rough start, heading into half-time the Panthers were winning 6-3. Midway through the third quarter the Cardinals took a 10-6 lead when they scored a touchdown on a one-yard Rashard Mendenhall run.

The Cardinals kicked off and the Panthers kneeled in the end zone but a penalty gave them the football on the 10 yard line to start the drive. The following play wide receiver Steve Smith was flagged for offensive pass interference and that moved the ball back to the 5 yard line.

The next play Cam Newton dropped back to pass and he was sacked by Calais Campbell in the end zone. The Cardinals improved their lead to 12-6 on the safety.

It is a sloppy game and certainly isn’t a high scoring shoot out. The game is still close and could go either way. Cam Newton has completed 18 of 29 passes for 260 yards and thrown two interceptions. His counterpart, Carson Palmer has been just as bad. Palmer has completed 14 of 23 passes for 143 yards and three interceptions.
