NFL Pro Bowl 2014: Mid-season NFC roster projections
By Mike Dyce
OFFENSIVE LINE
LT: Donald Penn, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Despite the Buccaneers struggles, Penn is playing incredibly well. His team’s poor record is overshadowing his performance though. His strong suit might be the run game.
LG: Evan Mathis, Philadelphia Eagles
Not the strongest in pass protection, but Chip Kelly’s offense suits his skill set and he has thrived. He is the second highest ranked player by Pro Football focus at this position.
C: Travis Frederick, Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys gambled drafting Travis Frederick, a center, in the first round of the NFL Draft. That bold move looks like it is paying off for the Cowboys. He still has improvements to make, but he has proven he was worth the pick.
RG: Larry Warford, Detroit Lions
He is the second rookie on this offensive line. Warford, like Frederick, has room to improve. Particularly in the run game but he has been solid up front for the Lions.
RT: Doug Free, Dallas Cowboys
I know Cowboys fans are incredibly shocked to see this. Doug Free was almost released in the offseason for salary cap relief. Last season he split time with Jeremy Parnell. There were even reports that he could be moved to guard this offseason. All that motivated Free apparently, and he is the top ranked right tackle in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.
Other players in contention are:
LT: Jake Long, St. Louis Rams
LG: Kory Lightensteiger, Washington Redskins
C: Dominic Raiola, Detroit Lions
RG: Brandon Fusco, Minnesota Vikings
RT: Zac Strief, New Orleans Saints
