Dallas Mavericks’ rookie PG Shane Larkin returns to practice
‘The Dallas Mavericks got one of their key offseason acquisitions back on Monday.
Point guard Shane Larkin, the 18th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft, practiced for the Mavericks Monday.
“I felt good out there,” Larkin told Tim McMahon of ESPN Dallas. “I don’t have my quickness back yet, but that’ll come in the next couple of practices. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks — a week, week and a half, I’ll be back being able to play.”
Larkin starred for one of the best University of Miami teams in the program’s history, winning the ACC Player of the Year award and leading the Hurricanes to both the regular season and conference tournament championships.
Mavericks’ coach Rick Carlisle called his return a “step” and said Larkin “did well,” but no one would place a timetable on his return.
Larkin is the son of former Cincinnati Reds’ Hall-of-Fame shortstop Barry Larkin.
Larkin broke his ankle during the Pro Summer League in Las Vegas.
