There was some visible dissatisfaction in Liverpool’s loss this weekend. Late in the game Liverpool striker Luis Suarez took a shot instead of passing it across the box to an open and charging Daniel Sturridge. The two up front have otherwise worked very well together up front, but Suarez continues to be surrounded by transfer rumors, but Sturridge enjoys playing with him and would prefer him to stay.

“Everyone wants Luis to stay at the club. It’s up to Luis to decide what he wants to do. If he believes it’s best for him to move on, then that’s the way it’s got to be.

“But the club, the players and the fans all want him to stay and I’m sure he will.”

“It’s great to play with Luis,” Sturridge said, via ESPN FC. “We give defenders problems and we’re both different. It’s good to have a strike partner you can bounce off.

“We get on well and that’s the most important thing. There is no rivalry there, no hidden agendas. We both go out and work hard to help the team. It’s not about the SAS strikeforce, it’s about the team. The players behind us work so hard they make our jobs easy really. We just try to do what we do best.”

Liverpool is off to an incredible start and sit near the top of the table.

“It’s been an amazing start for us. We just need to continue working hard and continue doing what the manager tells us to do and see where we end up at the end of the season. I wouldn’t say there is one definitive team in the league who are going to be favourites to win it.

“Everyone in the top six is in the race. There are a lot of teams playing amazing football, including Southampton who are up there.

“We’ll just stay focused on ourselves and try our best to play good football.”
