Storms in the area caused a delay in action at the Turkish Airlines Open by The Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Thursday forcing play to be suspended for darkness at 4:45 in the afternoon. Tiger Woods, who is playing on a $3 Million Dollar appearance fee, completed ten holes, and was having a mediocre round. The World’s number one made two birdies and one bogey en route to a one under par total before leaving the course. He is currently six shots off of the pace set by Paul Casey from England.

Conditions at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal golf course in Antalaya, Turkey were soft, and ripe for some easy birdies. Paul Casey is through 14 holes, and is at seven under par. The clubhouse lead is six under par and is shared by Ricardo Gonzales from Argentina, and Thorbjorn Olesen from Denmark.

The Turkish Airlines Open is the third of four tournaments in the Race To Dubai playoffs. The top 60 players on the European Tour will move on to Dubai next week for the DP World Tour Championship.

In a Turkish publicity stunt by the Ministry of Tourism, Tiger Woods stood on the Bosphorus Bridge and hit a drive from Asia to Europe. Traffic was shut down in the European direction during rush hour on the bridge in Istanbul that separates the European sector from the Asian sector. He stated in a press conference that he for sure that he didn’t want to hit a slice. Good thing I wasn’t asked to hit the ball!!

"“I tell you what, I’ve never done that one before,” Woods said on the European Tour’s website. “I’ve hit balls down airports before on runways but never down a bridge. The scary part was just getting off a plane having flown for 12 hours and having to hit driver down the narrowest fairway I’ve ever seen.“The wind was coming off the left a little bit, all these cars were driving on the right, so if I lose any balls to the right, there’s an international incident right there. So that was a little bit nerve-wracking but, trust me, every ball drew. But it was pretty cool – somebody was telling me I hit one 550 meters or something like that, which was not too bad.”"
