The Steelers know Ed Reed very well, and after the Houston Texans released him today, he’s currently going through waivers with the likelihood that no team will claim him. That means the Steelers can sign him to the veteran’s minimum and have one of the most knowledgeable safeties in the game paired with one of the best defensive minds in defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau.

Reed, 35, signed a three-year, $14.875 million contract with the Texans in March after 11 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens in hopes of chasing another Super Bowl. He was unable to do that with Houston and he’ll unlikely do that with Pittsburgh, but he can help the Steelers continue to win this year.

his knowledge of the AFC north will help Pittsburgh greatly considering they have 5 games left against division foes.
