After the Dallas Cowboys defense struggled to stop another offense there are a lot of questions surrounding Monte Kiffin’s job as defensive coordinator. Kiffin has gotten the support of head coach Jason Garrett and owner Jerry Jones, now his players are supporting him.

The players are even taking the blame and responsibility for the defense’s failures.

“The system is there it’s got everything to do with executing properly,” middle linebacker Sean Lee said, via Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas. “You can’t give up big plays and we gave up too many big plays. We didn’t get off the field on third down, basic stuff.

“We didn’t play a fundamentally sound game this week,” defensive end DeMarcus Ware said. “They schemed us well and they knew what was coming most of the time,” Hatcher said. “It’s no excuse. We have to execute better and play better. We got outplayed.”

It was encouraging to see Lee and Ware accept the blame for not executing instead of blaming injuries that have ravaged the defense.

Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher was less informative when asked about his belief in Kiffin.

“Why you would ask that question?” Hatcher said. “You answer that.”
