Mike Shanahan: If I was trying to get fired, I wouldn’t ask Daniel Synder’s opinion
By Josh Hill
Mike Shanahan has gone from being a surly coach that most outsiders hated to some kind of anti-hero who’s burning the despised Washington Redskins from within. But while it appears to the outside world that Shanahan is trying his best to get fired, so Daniel Snyder has to pay him to sit on his couch for the rest of this season and next season, the head coach is openly denying that.
In his press conference today, Shanahan noted very bluntly that if he was trying to get himself fired from his job, he wouldn’t be involving his boss in the decisions he makes.
This seems to only complicate matters as yesterday we heard that Daniel Snyder wouldn’t be sticking his fingers in this particular pie, but Shanahan makes it sound like the decision couldn’t have been made without Snyder’s blessing.
Still, it’s a pretty straightforward answer to the question of if Shanahan is sabotaging the Redskins. It’s not as though he can answer honestly though, as the coach admitted that he can’t give us the whole truth and nothing but, at this exact moment. We’re clearly nowhere near the bottom of this story and it keeps growing more and more bizarre with each passing moment.
