During his best days, Champ Bailey was not exactly a modest young man while playing the cornerback position. Fans of the Denver Broncos were first introduced to Champ’s swagger during a high-profile Monday night showdown with Chad Johnson back in the day.

It is not surprising, then, that Bailey felt no need to come down on Richard Sherman or criticize him for his peacock act this past weekend. Asked about Sherman, Bailey said the following (quotes from Dave Krieger of 850 KOA in Denver):

"He’s a great corner, don’t get me wrong. I think most of you guys notice that now because you hear about how much he talks. That’s the way he is. I enjoy guys with some personality. That’s him. I have no bad words to say about him. He’s a good player.”"

Bailey did also seem to offer a bit of indirect advice for Sherman, who is 11 years his junior:

"I guarantee you he’ll say he’ll never get beat again, but we all are going to get beat at some point, as long as we strap them up. I think the nature of the position exposes you anyway, so it doesn’t matter if you’re talking or not.”"

So far both the Seahawks and the Broncos have delivered quotes straight from the mutual admiration society. Expect more of the same, even with all the nonsense that comes with Tuesday’s media day, as both of these teams seem to be playing it smart this week in anticipation of a hard-fought game in Super Bowl 48.
