NBA Rumors: Detroit Pistons might clean house, fire head coach Maurice Cheeks
By Josh Hill
The Detroit Pistons are a train wreck this season and that has a lot of fans wondering just what went wrong. On paper, the team has a roster that should be winning as guys like Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond should be meshing together better than they are.
Fans are searching for answers and so is owner Tom Gores. According to David Mayo from MLive.com, the soul searching that Gores is doing might lead him to firing his head coach Maurice Cheeks and cleaning house in the front office including President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars.
"Gores let Dumars hire Cheeks, and if this season doesn’t get any better and the Pistons don’t make the playoffs, the owner probably wouldn’t feel great compunction about firing Cheeks and letting Dumars ride off into the sunset after his contract expires."
While Gores is teetering on the brink when it comes to what to do with his staff, fans are calling for Gores to be the one removed for the way he’s running the team into the ground.
Everyone is to blame for the Pistons problems though, and all of the losing this season could lead to drastic and violent changes in the offseason.
