NBA Rumors: Charlotte Hornets’ Josh McRoberts to decline option
Although the improvement of point guard Kemba Walker and the signing of big man Al Jefferson were the biggest reason the Charlotte Bobcats (now Hornets) improved their record from 21-61 to 43-39 and made their first postseason appearance since 2010, the improvement of forward Josh McRoberts certainly helped.
If McRoberts chooses to decline his player option for the 2014-15 season worth $2.8 million, he can become an unrestricted free agent.
According to Marc Stein, McRoberts will almost certainly decline his player option and become a free agent, but the Hornets want him back.
"Charlotte naturally hopes to re-sign frontcourt newcomer Josh McRoberts, who is widely expected to decline his $2.8 million player option for next season to become a free agent after finding a playmaking niche alongside Jefferson."
McRoberts told Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer that he hasn’t made any decision and that he wants to return.
McRoberts averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season.
