Although it appeared as though the Los Angeles Lakers were leaning towards keeping head coach Mike D’Antoni, they did not want to pick up his option for the 2015-16 season.
That is probably one of their major reasons D’Antoni decided to hand in his resignation on Wednesday night.
After the Lakers fired Mike Brown early last season, many thought they would hire Phil Jackson so the D’Antoni hire wasn’t popular.
As always, twitter is quickly reacting to the news.
I prefer to think of it as a "conscious uncoupling." AK MT@ramonashelburne: Mike D'Antoni has resigned, source tells ESPN

Curious to find out in coming days whether the Lakers really wanted D'Antoni back or called his bluff to get out of his deal.
