Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has already made some headlines in Tampa this offseason with his ongoing contract negotiations, which he insures will not keep him from attending the Buccaneers training camp.

In an odd twist given his contract situation, McCoy sent out this tweet on Thursday (the day the NFL Draft begins):

So, I guess McCoy is opposed to playing nose tackle? Hard to tell from that tweet.

McCoy is considered one of the locker room leaders for the Bucs, so a statement like this could be misconstrued as a selfish act. But it’s doubtful that McCoy meant it in that way, as he has already come out publicly in support of new head coach Lovie Smith bringing back the traditional Tampa-2 defense, and how he likes how it is run.

This is more of a reaction to all the draft rumors and speculation, and all that comes with it. McCoy tweeted again later stating that it wasn’t meant to be selfish, and that former Bucs Warren Sapp and Booger McFarland had stated the same thing about moving to nose.
