New England Patriots

The Patriots have something the Texans have wanted in Ryan Mallett and the Texans have something the Patriots should want in a number one receiver. Outside of Julian Edelman, all of the Patriots wide receivers

were widely inconsistent. Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski couldn’t stay healthy and then-rookies in Kenbrall Thompkins and Aaron Dobson dealt with both injury and catching problems along the way. Even when the group was healthy, the Patriots failed to stretch the field, a problem had a hand in their AFC championship loss.

But with Johnson they’d have their guy and with Mallett the Texans would have there’s. Money will be an issue for New England as Johnson is still on a hefty contract, but the want for Mallet presents Bill Belichick the perfect opportunity to make a much-needed upgrade at the number one receiver position. Tom Brady isn’t getting any younger.
