I’m getting pretty sick of all this “Derek Fisher is washed up” talk that’s been floating around for the past few years. The guy is still a valuable part of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he proved it again last night. Seriously, it’s like you guys don’t even watch the games.

I hear all this talk about analytics and effective field goal percentage and nonsense like that. Well there’s only one stat that matters in my book, and that’s points. You don’t win by having the best effective field goal percentage or whatever; you win by having the most points. You know who had the third most points for the Thunder last night? That’s right, Derek Fisher. 4-6 shooting, 16 points, plus a few rebounds and a few steals. And yet there’s still all this talk about how this guy can’t play and people complaining that Scotty Brooks needs to sit him down. Last time I checked 16 points was a pretty good number. The Thunder got blown out last night, and without Fisher it would have been even worse.

Fisher plays basketball how it’s meant to be played. He’s tough, he works hard, he’s there for his teammates, and he’s a leader on and off the court. And oh yeah, he scores points. So please, just cut the crap with your misplaced hatred of Derek Fisher. This guy’s a warrior doing everything he can to help his team win.

Everyone jumps on the “Derek Fisher is garbage” bandwagon because they want to sound cool on Twitter. Ooh well good for you, some basketball bloggers think you’re cool because you bash Derek Fisher. Who cares? Stop worrying about trying to please people you don’t know and probably will never meet. Deep down inside you all wish Derek Fisher was on your team. I know, you know it, and Derek Fisher knows it. So stop lying to yourselves, and start praising Derek Fisher. Because one day he’ll be gone for good, and then you’ll all be sorry.
