While Mark Cuban is well-known for his opinionated behavior as owner of the Dallas Mavericks, his contributions to the community may often go unnoticed. Several individuals that are familiar with the billionaire are aware of his softer side that has led to kind actions in the past.

One such act was the full funding of a wedding for a Watauga, Texas couple that has dealt with a few unfortunate events that continued to delay the wedding from occurring.

The Texas couple was recently given the troubling news that the wife to be, Monica, had ovarian cancer, and the couple had already dealt with some financial trouble and miscarriages. The medical treatment left the couple with little room to pay for a wedding.

Janet St. James of the Dallas-Fort Worth ABC affiliate WFAA reported the story.

"Bills from cancer treatment began piling up. After reaching out to charity organizations for financial assistance to make their wedding happen, Monica recently got an unexpected call out of the blue.“I got a call from his assistant,” recalls Monica. “And she said Mark Cuban was going to help pay for our wedding. And I was completely floored. I thought it was a joke.”It was no joke.Mark Cuban paid for the Wilkinsons’ April wedding. Monica and Leroy say it was a perfect day filled with love, hope, and joy.Monica Wilkinson knows she’ll never be able to bear a child of her own because of the cancer. She might not even have a long life. But she did have the wedding of her dreams."

The couple described the wedding as the “perfect day” and have hopes to formally thank Cuban for his touching gesture.

In addition to the wedding, Cuban made another charitable donation of $10,000 to a North Texas fire department that was in dire need for funding to ensure adequate protection for the town of Crandall.

Cuban has a long standing pattern of donations to charities, often coinciding with fines given by the NBA over the years.
