Miami Marlins slugger, Giancarlo Stanton has continued to set the RBI pace thus far in 2014, with an amazing 44. Whilst everyone is fully aware of the sheer power Stanton possesses, he has proved so far this season, that he can become a run producer in the middle of the Miami lineup, not just a home run hitter.

More from Miami Marlins

Stanton talked to MLB.com about his early success.

“That’s what is going to separate you,”Stantonr said. “Are you just going to get RBIs with homers or are you going to be an all-around threat?”

Stanton also seemed to be happy about the addition of Casey McGehee he added, “I’ve got this guy hitting behind me,” Stanton said. “He can knock them in if I don’t.”

If Stanton continues to knock in runs like he has been so far, he is on pace to break the record of Pre-All-Star RBI record for a Marlin, previously set by Mike Lowell, who hit 70 before the break in 2003.

So far in his superlative season, he has a .305/.400/.588 slashline with 12 home runs and his potentially record breaking 44 runs batted in. He has also added 12 doubles and has stolen four bases, whilst playing some highlight reel defense.
