Buying gifts for your friends is always a nice thing to do. In the sports world we often hear about players buying gifts for their teammates, such as a quarterback getting his lineman watches or an MVP getting his teammates suits to show his appreciation. What I don’t think we’ve heard before, however, is a player buying all of his teammates hunting knives.
But that’s just Birdman did for all of his Miami Heat teammates.
Chris Andersen bought each one of his teammates hunting knives. Shane Battier said he will think of Birdman every time he skins a squirrel.

Birdman is a strange dude, so it makes sense he would pick out a strange gift. I mean, a hunting knife would be pretty sweet if, you know, you actually went hunting.

I have to imagine though, that there are at least a few guys on the Heat who never have, and never will go hunting, so I’m not really sure what they’re supposed to do with a hunting knife. It’s not like it has other uses besides skinning animals that you’ve hunted.
Still, a gift is a gift, and this is a nice gesture by Birdman.
