Fan makes great catch on flying baseball bat (Video)
By Hayden Kane
You can count any number of ways that the catch made by this Chicago White Sox fan was impressive.
For one thing, her head was down and she reached up with just one hand and caught the flying baseball bat of Tyler Flowers clean out of the air. In so doing, she kept those around her safe and free from harm while gaining an excellent souvenir.

For another thing, she showed that she has an equal relationship with her friend, boyfriend, husband, or whoever this gentleman next to her is. He was the one who ducked his head down with a baseball bat flying his direction. She was the one who protected him and then made the outstanding catch.
The woman is seen at the end of the video handing the bat to the gentleman to give herself a well-deserved round of applause. That better have been a temporary arrangement, however, because she earned that souvenir.
Fans in the front row are always warned to pay attention to every single pitch of a baseball game. While that seems obvious to most people, the reminder still must be offered each and every night because it can be truly dangerous with foul balls and bats headed towards those seats. That just makes the catch from this fan all the more impressive.
Finally, I have a bone to pick with MLB.com. The fine video that they offer of this play is titled: “Lucky fan catches souvenir.” This is not luck. This feat is pure skill, and this White Sox fan deserves credit as such.
